WAVEFU
NCTION
a work-in-development
is about probability, time, and waves.
is a live performance / multimedia installation for three performers, a collection electrified sculptures, and huge video projections.
WAVEFUNCTION renders the probabilistic, unstable, and transient behaviours of waves into felt experience , embodied through searing noise, heavy bass, and overwhelming redness.
It is loud, vibrant, experimental audiovisual music.
WAVEFUNCTION is currently in development, supported by Speak Percussion, RMIT University, and Darebin City Council.
I am very interested in developing relationships in support or partnership of this work; please contact me here.
Development I
Development II
Development III
Wavefunction is a product of my postgraduate research in the interactions of consciousness and composition. The work has developed across three stages so far, with another ~three~ to go:
Development 1 explored sculptural methods for activating and deactivating site specific feedback terrains, in a non-interactive way.
Development 2 explored performance as a means of structuring the encounter with feedback, and introduced a visual environment.
Development 3 looked at relations between performance and environment (interactions) and how this could function as a score. Further, the instrument has developed to have its own autonomous functions (such as rotation & translation) which turns the performance space into its own agent of chaotic probability (much like IRL).
Development 4 (forthcoming) focuses on composing musical materials.
Development 5 (forthcoming) focuses on working with performers.
Development 6 (forthcoming) focuses on audiovisual aesthetics, performance technology (mic technique for sound reinforcement, mostly) and audience experience.
